Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu`s office has criticized the recent formation of a Gaza oversight body announced by the White House, marking a rare public divergence from US President Donald Trump.

In a statement on Saturday, Netanyahu`s office said the announcement "was not coordinated with Israel and contradicts its policy," a day after the unveiling of the executive committee of the so-called "Gaza Board of Peace".

According to Netanyahu`s office, the Israeli premier has instructed foreign minister Gideon Sa`ar to raise Israel`s objections with his US counterpart, Marco Rubio. Sa`ar, who previously had limited involvement in Israel-US relations, has now been tasked with addressing this development.

On Friday, the Trump administration announced the executive committee of Gaza`s so-called board of peace, a body purportedly tasked with managing transitional governance in the blockaded territory.

The executive committee includes top officials from Turkey and Qatar- countries openly critical of Israel`s actions during the Gaza war.

Unlike the largely symbolic broader Board of Peace, which Trump will chair, the executive committee is expected to play a direct and pivotal role in overseeing Gaza`s postwar management.

Separately, Trump has extended invitations to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to join the Board of Peace.

According to the Turkish presidency, Erdogan has received the invitation, while Egypt confirmed it is reviewing the proposal.

Some key members of the Board of Peace include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump`s special envoy Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Jared Kushner, Trump`s son-in-law.

The body is expected to supervise Gaza`s temporary governance under a fragile ceasefire that has been in place since October.

Netanyahu`s pushback underscores rising tensions between Israel and the Trump administration over Gaza, highlighting disagreements on the region`s postwar reconstruction and governance.
